Position Summary:

Assets and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized Food Service Management diploma course
  • Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
  • Previous experience in a healthcare management role
  • Demonstrated experience in menu writing, financial management and food procurement
  • Experience with Mealsuite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with residents and team members
  • Proficient with computers and a variety of software.

Responsibilities:

Include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in development, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of food services.
  • Create and implement menus, in consultation with the Director Food Services, with input from Residents’ Council and Dietitian, as per legislation.
  • Develop standardized recipes and menus following guidelines.
  • Participates in resident care conferences, as required.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary assessments with residents and families; implement individualized and resident-centered care plans based on resident needs, as required.
  • Monitor services in accordance with legislative, professional, best practices and standards.
  • Assist in ensuring staffing needs for the cooks and food service workers, including hiring, orientation/training, shift assignments, schedules and payroll, are met while meeting budget requirements.
  • Monitor employee performance; provide guidance, counseling/coaching, conducting performance reviews and attendance management programs.
  • Oversees food/supply purchasing, inspection and storing; ensuring rotation of new products.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation; stay within approved budget.
  • Ensure completion of audits; develop action plan to correct/improve measures.
  • Lead quality initiatives that embrace person-centered care and innovation.
  • Participate in annual program evaluations, as required.
  • Track and monitor key performance indicators, including quality, department and human resources.
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift Information:

This is a full-time leadership position that requires flexibility to oversee the peak meal periods including evenings and weekends. The final compensation offered will vary based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s experience, and skills. The salary can range from $50,000 – $61,500.

 

 

Ability to provide effective service in French (proficient in conversational French for activities of daily living) is considered an asset.
