Position Summary:

To provide personal care to Long-Term Care residents according to each resident’s individualized plan of care.

Assets and Qualifications:

  • PSW certificate required. All Personal Support Workers (PSW) must be or become registrants in HSCPOA. https://hscpoa.com/registrants/benefits-to-registration-2.
  • Must be comfortable with electronic charting and communication
  • Experience working with seniors with complex, age-related diseases and/or mental health concerns an asset
  • Team-work attitude and approach to work
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
  • Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector component required.
  • Current TB skin test and COVID-19 vaccination are required

Responsibilities:

  • Implement the plan of care for assigned residents.
  • Assist with personal care including bathing, dressing and undressing, toileting, general grooming, and ambulation.
  • Observe and report to the Charge Nurse any changes in resident’s condition as they occur and document resident changes.
  • Assist in providing Restorative Care nursing therapy according to resident care plan and restorative care flow sheet to promote optimal quality of life.
  • Support the overall Program/Activity process as directed by program staff to promote optimal quality of life.
  • Follow the PSW responsibilities as outlined in the Fire Safety Plan and Emergency Plan.
  • Participate in resident care conferences as required.
  • Attend in-service training and self-development courses as required.

Shift Information:

  • Must be available to work alternating weekends
  • Must be reasonably available to work short notice call-in replacements
  • 8 hour shift, Day shift, Evening shift, Night shift
  • Weekend and on-call availability

Ability to provide effective service in French (proficient in conversational French for activities of daily living) is considered an asset.
